Getting Knocked Down... And Getting Up Again - Andy Ibbott

Before Andy had his stroke, he was talking to people about the motorcycles they rode. He was the Manager Director of the long-standing California Superbike School. He also spent 6 years as a motorcycle journalist. Riding the newest and latest bikes for that time included Haga Yamaha R7 to Ducati 955 to Honda Fireblade for Fast Bikes and MCN (Motorcycles News.) He literally lived life in the fast lane!

Life changed overnight when he went for a route operation and one artery to the brain was cut. He was put in ICU (Intense Care Unit) and his famil were told that he had a 5% chance of living. 10 days in ICU and 4 months in the stroke unit, he was let out unable to walk or could only speak three words. Yes, His mind was active! He had half a brain and half a body (right side) but was still active!

Amongst other things has walked in the desert in the Marathon Des Sables and trekked in the Himalayas towards Everest base camp.

We talk to Andy about his stroke, aphasia and pushing himself and learn some tools to use when we face our own challenges.
